Holiday Spirit Challenge at Aurora Wings

Happy Monday! It's time for the last challenge of 2018 at the Aurora Wings challenge blog. The holiday are upon us and the theme for this challenge is "Holiday Spirit". There are so many digis in the Aurora Wing catalog that you can use for this challenge, I don't know how you'll be able to pick one, so do two or three!! I used Poinsettia Sprite:

I used Copics to colour the image (reds R59, R29-24 & greens G29, G28, G17, G05, YG06). I layered a doily and some cheesecloth on Stampin' Up DP, and finished it off with some flowers and other embellies. My senitment stamp is from SU.

If you didn't find your way here via the challenge blog, make sure you go check it out and see what other fabulous creations our DT has come up with as inspiration for this challenge. You know you need to make some Christmas cards, so this is the perfect challenge for you. ;)

Our prizes this challenge will include:

Granger

Happy Monday! It's Rubbernecker Monday around here this week, so here is a card I made with the cute little owl stamp "Granger". I also used a few die sets to make my card. Links for every Rubbernecker product I used will be listed at the bottom of my post.

I used the Nested Rounded corner rectangle dies to create the base for my card as well as the mats. The Nested Banner dies were used to create the base for the sentiment, which is from the Coffee Blanket clear stamp set. The "Granger" stamp is red rubber. I coloured the image with Copics.

I've listed my products below and linked them, so all you have to do is click on it and will take you to the proper page:

Once Upon A Dream... or a Nightmare

It's time for a new challenge at Aurora Wings! This challenge theme is Once Upon a Dream... or a Nightmare. I went with Dream. Halloween is not even on my radar this year, and I'm probably going to regret not being prepared. Also, it's been horribly cold and snowing since September 12, so my mind and body are in Winter mode. We totally skipped over Fall here.

For my Dream project, I used the image "Clara", obviously inspired by the Alexandre Dumas version of The Nutcracker, and literally about a dream young Clara has on Christmas Eve about a battle between an army of gingerbread soldiers and mice, and the Nutcracker who leads the gingerbread army and transforms into a handsome prince.

I kept the card white and light, using a snowfall embossing folder on the card base, and a black on white mat for the image. I coloured the image with Copics, and used some ruffled lace, pink lace, and cheesecloth under the mat. I finished it off with small star die cuts made from silver glitter paper, along with some clear rhinestones.

Head over to the challenge blog, if you haven't been there already, and check out my teammates other creations. They are really amazing, and there is a nice mix of Dream vs. Nightmare!

Our prizes this challenge will include:

1(one) Artist's Choice Winner to be chosen by Mitzi from all entries using an Aurora Wings image (Custom badge+3 single digital images)

1(one) Random Winner (3 single digital images)

Top 3 To be selected by the Design Teams from all entries (Custom badge+1 single digital image each)

Christmas is Right Around the Corner

Monday is here again, and so am I with a Christmas card for Rubbernecker Stamps. I used SIX different stamps and dies on my card. I will list them all separately at the end of my post so they are easy to find.

I started with a snowfall embossing folder to set my background. I knew I wanted to keep it white, so I didn't add a mat to this. It has been snowing where I live since September 12, and it is snowing right now while I type this, so white is my world right now! It really is horrible having snow in September; it's too early!!

I used the Snowman with a Present stamp AND die. I created a shadow for my snowman by cutting out another snowman in purple and slightly offsetting it. I used the Marquee nested die set for my sentiment, Merry Christmas with Swirls. I cut out some snowflakes with the two new small snowflake dies. I used a star stencil (not from Rubbernecker) to decorate the white paper for my sentiment so it would pop out a little bit on all that white.

Make sure you pop over the Rubbernecker Fans Facebook Page to join in on a monthly challenge going on in the group.

Inspired by Music

It is time for a new challenge at Aurora Wings, and our theme is "Inspired by Music". Your creation can have lyrics or not, and your music can be from anywhere: TV show, movie, classical, rock, you name it. As long as we can see the song's inspiration in your piece, it's good! The sentiment is not a lyric from my song, but I think it is in the spirit of the song. Can you guess what my inspirational song is?
FLYING KITTEN
My song inspiration was "Fly Like an Eagle" by Steve Miller Band. Maybe it's my odd sense of humour, but I thought this was funny. A kitten that would want to fly like an eagle, and he looks like he's enjoying himself while he's at it. It still makes me laugh. I was going through my AW images that I already had printed out ready to colour, and when I saw it the lyrics popped right into my head. So I just ran with it. You can find the image at the Aurora Wings store HERE.

I loaded up my Animals Colouring Class from Kit and Clowder for this because I really don't colour too many animals, and when I do, I don't do the detail fur and flicking I've done here. I pulled up the cat class and gave it a whirl, and I think it came out pretty good. I'll give myself a pat on the back for my first try. 😉 I used paper and sparklies from Kaisercraft, and a mix of jute ribbon, cheesecloth, and lace to layer under my image. The small cloud stitch die is from Rubbernecker Stamps. The tag is punch out from Stampin' Up. I inked up the edge of my tag and the image with some Tim Holtz Distressed Ink in Tea Dye. The sentiment stamp is from Finnabair's "Don't Forget to Fly" stamp collection.

Make sure you check out my team mates other inspirational pieces for this challenge on the  CHALLENGE BLOG. They are really amazing, and if a flying kitten doesn't inspire you maybe something else will. 😉 Scroll down and you can listen to my song and chill and imagine a cat trying to fly...

Wish Big

School is back in session, and I'm back to crafting! Yay! It was a crazy busy summer, with being at the lake, going on vacation with my family, and just chasing after four kids for two months, and I'm hoping things will slow down a bit, but really... hockey, ringette, soccer, and football are all going on or getting ready to start so I don't know who I'm kidding!

I've made a card with Rubbernecker Stamps and some dies today. I've got a long list of products that I used from them so I will list them all at the bottom of my post so it's easy for you to find them!

I started out making a shaped card base using the Nested Rounded Corner Rectangle dies, along with the mats:
I made the card base by letting one edge of the die overlap the fold.

I punched out the mats that I layered over the base, cutting out a couple stars with the new mini star dies (below).
The Small Star outline dies give you two stars to work with.
The final product after layering the mats, adding some cheesecloth, and adding all the stars I cut out of silver glitter paper. I also used the nested tag dies for my sentiment. Below you can find links to all the dies and stamps I used on my card (just click on the name of the product):

A Sketch Challenge

Hey everyone! It is time for a new challenge, and the teams are going to switch things around so Stella Team will be bringing you inspiration for the first half of the challenges for the rest of the year. This challenge is a Sketch challenge. See below:
For my DT inspiration, I used the new image "Icicles and Crystals" for my card:
I used Copics to colour the image (BV08-BV000 & B05-B0000), along with some glitter gel pens and Stickles in Gunsmoke and Frosted Lace. My chipboard "believe" is from Make It Crafty, as are the little stars. I inked them up with my Copics then used Versamark ink and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder to make them shine. My flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.
A close up of the chip board and some of the Stickles
Check out the challenge blog to see the team's other inspiration, and again in two weeks, when the midway post goes up with even more inspiration from our fabulous designers.

Happy Birthday

I'm back with another card for Rubbernecker Stamps, this time using the Birthday Balloons stamp. After I inked up the balloons, I used Glossy Accents and rhinestones to finish it up.
All of my ink and paper is from Stampin' Up. I also used the Rubbernecker stamp Dash Dot Frame for the card border. It's a simple card, and I love these new balloon stamps with messages. There are also Happy Retirement and Congratulations ones.

My summer has been super busy, and the kids have just a few more weeks off school so we're making the most of it with a big family trip right away. Then when we get back hockey and football will be in full swing. We have to make the most of our time off while we can! I hope you're having an awesome summer out there.

Anything Goes at Aurora Wings

My favourite challenge theme is live at the Aurora Wings challenge blog: Anything Goes!! I love the freedom of ATG challenges. I just follow wherever my creativity takes me. This is my take on Petals in the Wind. I had started colouring this image a long time ago, and only got as far as her butterfly ears, which I coloured with Prismacolor pencils. I picked up with Copics and finally finished her with a mix of purple, pink, blue, and yellow.
The image takes up the majority of the card, which is a standard A2 size, so not too many embellies on this one, just a few flowers and pearls. The sentiment is from a Finnabair stamp set called "Don't Forget to Fly". Here are the direct links to the AW image in both the Etsy shop and the AW store:

Foxy!

We're getting Foxy this Monday morning with the Fox set of clear stamps from Rubbernecker Stamps

I used the Foxy set of designer paper from Stampin' Up for this card. It was perfect for what I wanted to do. I coloured the fox with Copics. I was camping when I made this, so I had to be pretty basic with my supplies. There is an awesome die set that goes with these stamps, but I didn't bring my Big Shot with me, so I had to make do with my straight edge paper cutter. This stamp set comes with four different foxes and four sentiments, so my next card will be foxes again, but I'll use the dies so you can see how awesome they are.

Challenges are on break for the summer, so we are just doing team posts for now. Thanks for visiting the blog and being a Rubbernecker fan. There is a Facebook group for all of you HERE.

Annabella

This is Team 1's week  at the Rubbernecker BLOG and I made a card using Rubbernecker Stamps' "Annabella", "Your Own Drum" sentiment, the "Flying Music" stamp, and the Nested Rounded Square small stitch dies.

My paper is from Stampin' Up, as are the star embellies. I fussy cut out Annabella and layered her on top of my die cut squares with pop up foam tape. When I saw her in the Rubbernecker store, and the Flying Music stamp, I knew they were meant to go together.

Our challenges are on hiatus for the summer, but the weekly team posts are still happening, so make sure you check in with us at the blog for card making inspiration. Below are the direct links to the products I've used on this card:

Epstein

I love these new little Owl stamps that Rubbernecker Stamps is making! This one is Epstein:

I used a Cuttlebug mini hearts embossing folder for the front of the card. I used the Rubbernecker sentiment "Just A Word", along with their nested circle die set to create the rest of the card. I had some neutral colored sparklies that I glued on the cheesecloth, layered under the circles.

Once Upon a Time Challenge at Aurora Wings

It is the midway point of our Once Upon a Time challenge at Aurora Wings. It is time for the Stella Team to bring you some inspiration for the second half of the challenge. Your creation should be inspired by a fairy tale, and mine is inspired by Snow White and the evil queen who doesn't want to give up her title of being the fairest in the land. I used the image "Dark Princess" for my project.

Dark Princess
I coloured the image with Copics. For her headpiece, I used gunmetal and frost colored Stickles. It is actually very sparkly in person, but I had a hard time catching it with a camera. The angled picture below, hopefully, gives you a better idea of what I did. For the rest of my card I wanted to keep the dark feeling, so I used the Distress Mini Square Background stamp from Rubbernecker Stamps on a red mat, then darkened up the edges of that with some black distress ink. I added a few black pearls at the bottom right corner, and glued on some red and black flowers.

Below are the direct links to the stamp I used at the Etsy store and the Aurora Wings digi shop:

Joyous Occasion

We are at the halfway point of our Joyous Occasion challenge on the Aurora Wings Challenge blog. It is time for the Stella Team to bring you our inspiration pieces for the next half of the challenge, and I made a birthday card for my niece using "Marie Antoinette". I cropped the image and printed it out at about 4" square. I really wanted to get into the fine details of this image which is why I cropped it and printed it off bigger than usual (my norm is 3.5"). My completed card is 5x5 inches.

I coloured the image with Copics. I used white vellum for the back mat, then layered cheesecloth and lace on top of that. I matted my image on black so it would really pop, and I love the contrast you get layering on black. My flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Now pop on over to the challenge blog, if you haven't been there already, check out the other inspiration pieces and show us what you got! This challenge runs through  June 16.

Autumn Leaves

Happy Monday!! Today I have a card using the Autumn Leaves stamp and die sets from Rubbernecker Stamps. I also used the new Nested Rectangle X Stitch dies to cut out the mat, and the Nested Circle Die set for the sentiment.

Obviously, it's spring, so making a card for Autumn seems a little weird, but I really love this set and since it's new, I wanted to share it with everyone. It doesn't hurt to get a jump start on making some cards for the fall! I layered the die cut leaves, wrapped some brown raffia around the mat, and layered the sentiment on top of the raffia. Easy Peasy. A simple and easy to make card with a really awesome stamp set.

Stop by the blog tomorrow to check out the newest challenge. The prizes are a $25 and $15 gift certificate for first and second place, respectively.

Black and White Challenge

Black & White Challenge
We are at the midway point of our Black and White Challenge at Aurora Wings, and it is time for the Stella team to bring you their inspiration for this theme. I used Rose Corner 1 to make a Valentine Card. My splash of colour is one red petal, as you can see, and the red mat behind the black.

Rose Corner 1
I coloured the image with Copics, using W7, W5, W4, W2, W0 and R20s. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up. I kept the design clean and simple, just adding some pearls at the corners. I thought going into this it was going to be super quick to do because it's just black and white. Well, I was wrong. LOL! It still took me hours to colour. I don't think I ever did anything monochromatic like this before, and I really like the way it turned out.

Now if you aren't here because you clicked on my picture at Aurora Wings, go check out my fellow DT ladies' amazing creations on the challenge blog HERE. There are some really beautiful pieces there. I hope you find the inspiration to create your own project for this challenge. It runs until May 19.

Angel Kisses

It's Rubbernecker Monday here on my blog. Every other Monday brings a new card made with Rubbernecker Stamps. This week I have made another card with the "Butterflies are Free" stamp set. This set includes four sentiments and four different butterflies, so there is a lot you can do with one set. I also used the "Nested Circle Scallop" die set and the coordinating Butterflies are Free die set.

I used all three of the scallop dies in the set to make this card. I created a circular card base that is just a little smaller than the largest scallop die, so the scallop detail really pops off the edges of the card. I used Stampin' Up paper and ink in Sweet Sugarplum. I layered the die cuts, heat embossed the sentiment, and added a die cut butterfly to finish it off.

Stop by the blog tomorrow to check out the newest challenge. The prizes are a $25 and $15 gift certificate for first and second place, respectively. Below are the direct links to the Rubbernecker products used on my card:

Poppies!

Hello!! I have a new card for you today from Rubbernecker Stamps using one of the many watercolor stamp sets they have. I love working with these, and I think I have finally gotten the hang of it! This was my first try! I used the Layered Poppy Set, along with the coordinating die, and a sentiment from the Butterflies are Free set.

I cut the die first. I thought it would help me line the stamps up. Sometimes that can be a little challenging with these multi-piece sets. This set is two stamps: the outline and the petals. I stamped the outline with Ranger Archival Ink and gave the ink a few minutes to dry to make sure it wouldn't bleed when I wet the paper. While it was setting, I prepped my petal stamp with three different colours, using SU Stampin' Write markers: Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, and Daffodil Delight. I randomly applied the colour because the watercolour effect you are trying to achieve will look more natural if you are a little loosy-goosy with the ink.

I wet the paper (Rubbernecker Water Color Paper) with a spray bottle, let it sit for a few seconds, then sprayed it again. Then I sprayed the inked stamp with water and pressed it to the paper. I let it sit on the paper for about five seconds or so, to let the colour absorb into the paper. I used the Cuttlebug embossing folder "Juli's Garden" on the paper for the back mat. All the paper I used is SU Brights  cardstock, that coordinates with the ink. I glued some rhinestones into the little circles created by the embossing folder, and added some string pearls to the sentiment square. Those rounded square die cuts, by the way, Rubbernecker dies!! But you probably already knew that because I LOVE them and have been using them a LOT lately!!

So that's that! I hope you like it, and are inspired to try these watercolor stamps out. I've added all the links to all the Rubbernecker products I've used today below so they are easy to find:

Sprite Delight Challenge at Aurora Wings

It is the midway point of one of the most popular challenge themes at Aurora Wings: Sprite Delight. This is the fifth Sprite Delight challenge we've had on the blog, and it is also the fourth anniversary of the challenge blog! There is also a special gift for you at the challenge blog, so make sure you visit if you weren't already there. Today I used Wine Sprite for my card:

I did a pretty awesome job of repurposing papers and embellies for this card. The scalloped edge floral paper and the butterflies were both part of a thank you note from a craft company that I received quite some time ago. I had been holding on to it and the colours on the paper went perfectly with my colour scheme for this card. I added a bit of lace and some pearls and "Voila!

Please check out the other wonderful creations by my fellow DT ladies at the challenge blog. Theyare, as usual, simply amazing. Then, after you've been inspired, create something of your own and add it to the challenge! Our prizes this challenge are DOUBLED in celebration of the blog's 4 year anniversary and include:

2 (TWO!) Artist's Choice Winners to be chosen by Mitzi from all entries using an                 Aurora Wings image (Custom badge+3 single digital images)

2 (TWO!) Random Winners (3 single digital images)

Top 6 (SIX!) To be selected by the Design Teams from all entries (Custom badge+1 single digital image each)

My Birthstone is a Coffee Bean

I'm back with another card from the NEW Coffee Blanket set at Rubbernecker Stamps. I used the sentiment "My birthstone is a coffee bean", along with the single bean stamp and the cute little cup of steaming coffee to make my card, as well as the rounded square stitched die set.

My paper is from the Teen Stack by DCWV. The pearl string is from Kaisercraft. This set has so many stamps I think I can do another 2 or 3 cards without repeating any! That serious value for your dollar. There is also a coordinating die set that I haven't been able to get my hands on yet, but I'm looking forward to playing with that soon.

Tomorrow is the start of a brand new challenge, so make sure you stop by the challenge blog and check it out! The prizes for first and second place are a $25 and $15 gift certificate respectively.

But First Coffee...

Happy Monday! Today I have a new card for you made with a new set of clear stamps from Rubbernecker Stamps. This is a sneak peek because they aren't in store yet. They should be in stock by the end of the month, so make sure you check in regularly so I can tell you when they are released. My next couple of cards are going to be made with this set. There are a total of ELEVEN stamps, so you can make a few cards with this one set. I also used the nested circle dies. I LOVE the die sets from Rubbernecker.

My DP is from the Moroccan Designer Series collection at Stampin' Up. I layered the nested circle dies from Rubbernecker, and used some coordinating washi tape from SU to adhere the coffee cup stamp to the card. I also used Emerald Envy ink from SU for stamping.

Tomorrow is the start of a brand new challenge, so make sure you stop by the challenge blog and check it out! The prizes for first and second place are a $25 and $15 gift certificate respectively.

Bingo Challenge at Aurora Wings

We are halfway through our Bingo challenge at the Aurora Wings challenge blog, and it is Team Stella's turn to bring you some inspiration. First, here is the Bingo challenge board:

I went diagonally down from Sentiment to Ribbons or Bow. I used Shamrock Sprite for my card. Since we are closing in on St. Patrick's Day and I'm part Irish, what better image to use!

I coloured the image with Copics, using YG's and Y's. The die cuts are from Rubbernecker Stamps. You can find them HERE. It is a nested die set and there are eight die cuts in the set. The ribbon I bought at Michaels. It was a real trial in patience, folding it like that over and over again, and gluing each fold down. The sentiment is from Verve Stamps.
