Clean and Simple Challenge

CAS Challenge
Time for a new challenge at Aurora Wings and the theme is Clean and Simple. This is one of my favorite challenge themes because sometimes I hate to take away from Mitzi's images with a bunch of embellishments. Her images can be so detailed that adding any more detail feels like a disservice to her art.

Poppy Sprite
I chose Poppy Sprite for this card. I definitely spent more time colouring the image than I did designing the card. The colouring took me a few hours, the card took about 20 minutes. I matted the image on black and green and affixed it to a white card base that I embossed with a Cuttlebug damask embossing folder. The image really shines on such a simple layout. I debated adding a sentiment but decided against it in the end. I love how the red pops out on that white base. I'm really happy with how this turned out.

Pop on over to the challenge blog to enter your creation(s). You can enter up to THREE times if you use an AW image on each entry! The prizes for this challenge are: 1 (one) Artist's Choice Award Winner to be selected from entries using Aurora Wings digis ($20 GC and Badge); 1 (one)  Random Winner ($20 GC); and a TOP 3 Winners to be chosen by the DT ($10 GC and Badge). This challenge runs until October 14.

Poppy Field

It's time for Team 1's Sweet Sunday post! I used the watercolour stamp Poppy Field for today's card. I also used a sentiment stamp from the Freehand Border Phrase Set.

I mixed the crimson and the blue from the Ken Oliver Color Burst Brights set with some water in a mister and made a dark purple. I sprayed the watercolor paper with water, then sprayed the stamp with my purple mist and stamped it on the damp paper. I held it down for about ten seconds to let the colour soak into the paper and then lifted the stamp. I was lucky to find some paper scraps that perfectly match the colour I created with the Color Bursts. I embossed them with a Cricut embossing folder. I added black dots with a Perlen Pen from Viva Decor randomly around the card to finish it off. I love that Perlen Pen. I think I need to buy a whole bunch more in a variety of colours.

A new challenge was launched on the Rubbernecker Blog on Valentine's Day, so make sure you pop over there and check it out. There are two prizes of $25 and $15 up for grabs!

Aurora Poppy And a Sketch Challenge

It's time for another sketch challenge in the Paper Crafting Support Group on Facebook. This week we have a sponsor and it's one of my favourite artists!!! The East Wind is sponsoring us and offering a prize of three images from their Etsy store. I used Aurora 'Poppy' for my card this week.

Sketch 10
I coloured the image with Copics (W's and R30's). All of my DP is from Stampin' Up. It is a mat stack called Stacked With Love, and I'm pretty sure I bought it when they retired it, so... Sorry about that! I also used the Petite Petals stamp set, along with the Petite Petal punch, and Calypso Coral ink.

White Poppy by Aurora Wings

I love Aurora Wings. One of my very first blog posts was about some of Mitzi's flowers. I don't have as much time to colour them as I used to, which is sad because they are so beautiful. I bought three of her colouring books (yes, she has colouring books with these beautiful images in them), and I don't know how many digital stamps. This is White Poppy, and I coloured her for a card that I sent to a friend that was feeling blue.
I coloured this with Copics. All of my embellishments are from Wild Orchid Crafts, except for the purple ribbon rose, which I made. I think I need some more practice doing THAT. It was not as easy as the lady on YouTube made it look. I also used a Spellbinders die for the mat.
The Copics a I used are as follows:
Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11
Hair - BG90's
Poppies - R80's
Butterfly Wing Ears - BV20's

I'm entering this into the following challenges:
Aurora Wings - Anything Goes Challenge
Scrapper's Delights - ATG
Craft Your Passion - ATG
Party Time Tuesdays - ATG

I hope you like it. Thanks for visiting!

Poppy by Aurora Wings

I already did a blog post dedicated to the beautiful flowers that Mitzi Sato-Wiuff has over at her Aurora Wings Shop. Well, here's another one! Before it was pansies and orchids, today we have poppies! I colored up Poppy for my sister-in-law's birthday card.

I kept it CAS, because I think any other embellishments really detract from the flowers. I just added a simple sentiment, that I embossed, and left it at that. It almost feels Christmasy, all the red and green.

The Copic markers I used are:
R30's
G20's
W5, W7, W9
I went back after I was done and added a little more depth to the shadows of the petals with W5.

That's it for today! Thanks for visiting!!
