Sunset Poppies

Today I have the watercolor stamp "Sunset Poppies" from Rubbernecker Stamps as the start to Rubbernecker Team 1's week to shine.

I successfully used the Ken Oliver Color Bursts in Brights in three different colours (crimson, yellow, and orange) to do this card. I am so proud of myself!! lol! I diluted a little of each colour in some water and used a water brush to apply the colour to the stamp. I started with my lightest colour first and worked my way to crimson. I coloured the entire stamp with the yellow, and for each subsequent colour, coloured a little less of the stamp so there was a gradient.

All of my paper is from the Cupcakes and Carousels collection from Stampin' Up. I also used the "Freehand Border Phrase Set" and the large "Freehand Border" from Rubbernecker on this card.

Tomorrow, May 23, is the start of a new challenge on the blog so make sure you drop by and join us. You can access it by clicking HERE! The prizes are a $25 GC first prize and a $15 GC second place prize to the Rubbernecker store.

Friendship Challenge at Rubbernecker Stamps

Today is the start of a new challenge at Rubbernecker Stamps. The theme is "Friendship" and here is my DT inspiration using "Field of Blooms" and "Freehand Border Phrase Set".

Field of Blooms
I used Stampin' Up ink in Flirty Flamingo to do the flower blooms. I sprayed the watercolor paper with water before I stamped it so it was slightly damp. After I inked my stamp, I also spritzed some water on the stamp right before I stamped the image. I held it down for about ten seconds to give the ink time to soak into the damp paper. I find that if the paper and the stamp aren't prepped with enough water beforehand the ink won't travel into the paper and give that watercolor effect.

Make sure you stop by the blog and enter this challenge for your chance to win one of two prizes: a $25 gift certificate for 1st place, and a $15 gc for second place. Below are direct links to the stamps I used today. xx

Treehouse

Hello and Happy Monday! It's Team 1's time to shine this week at Rubbernecker Stamps. Today I have a card I made using the "Tree House" stamp along with a sentiment from the "Freehand Border Phrase Set".

I used paper scraps from my stash for this card. The card is 4.25 x 5.5", and the stamp is quite big, so I didn't have a lot of empty space for embellishments. I coloured the stamp with Copics.

Tuesday, May 9, is the start of another challenge on the blog, which you can access by clicking HERE! The prizes are a $25 GC first prize and a $15 GC second place prize to the Rubbernecker store. Below is a direct link to the stamps I used today for your convenience! xx

New Challenge at The East Wind

Today we have a new challenge starting at The East Wind challenge blog. The theme is "Celebrate the Women". Since our fans in the UK celebrate Mother's Day in March, and a couple of our DT ladies are in the UK, we decided to do a general theme centered around women instead of just Mother's Day. It's your chance to make something using a TEW image for the women in your life who are special to you. If May isn't your month for Mother's Day, you can make something for a sister, cousin, friend, mom, co-worker, etc. "just because".

I used the image "Aurora Love You", which was actually released as a Mother's Day image a couple years ago.

Aurora Love You
I coloured the image with Copics and then fussy cut it out. The die cut is from Spellbinders. All of my paper is from a Pion Design collection called Scent of Lavender. It is such pretty paper that I hate to cut it!! My flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. Behind the picture mat I tucked in a paper doily, some lace from Live & Love Crafts, and some cheesecloth. I finished it off with some pearls in a couple of the corners.

Please drop by the BLOG, see what awesome prizes Unky is offering this time around, and enter your own TEW creation with the Linky Tool at the bottom of the page. I hope I provided a little inspiration for this challenge. I'm going to be giving this to one of the mom's in my life and I hope they like it. It's probably one of my favourite TEW cards that I have made so far.

Today is also newsletter day and the freebie is "in the mail" so I hope you're signed up for that!

'Frame It!' Challenge at Aurora Wings

It is time for a new challenge at Aurora Wings brought to you by the Stella Team. This challenge theme is "Frame It!".

I chose the image "Weeping Rose" for my card, and used a chipboard frame from Make It Crafty, which I covered in Shabby Pink Fran-tage.

I coloured the image with Copics and Prismacolor Pencils. I did her skin with Copics, and went back over the shading with pencils. The flowers are almost entirely pencil. I laid down a very light base colour on the flowers with Copics, then built up the colour from there with pencils. The die cut is from Spellbinders. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts; the ribbon and lace are from Live & Love Crafts. The paper is from Maja Design (Coffee in the Arbour collection).

I hope I have inspired you to create something for this challenge. Pop on over to the challenge blog to enter your creation(s). You can enter up to THREE times if you use an AW image on each entry! The prizes for this challenge are: 1 (one) Artist's Choice Award Winner to be selected from entries using Aurora Wings digis ($20 GC and Badge); 1 (one)  Random Winner ($20 GC); and a TOP 3 Winners to be chosen by the DT ($10 GC and Badge). This challenge runs until May 13.
